Liverpool have already got two pieces of business in place for the summer, in the form of Marko Grujic and Joel Matip, but the fans in the Transfer Tavern are pleased to see positive signs in the quest for a third signing.
German outlet Kicker run with quotes from Cologne manager Peter Stoger, who has stated the Bundesliga club may be forced to cash-in on the German international.
“I don’t have to talk about what may happen in the summer,” Stoger said. “But if somebody should offer us a three-figure million sum, we’d probably give in. If a two-figure million sum is offered, we’d consider it. And if Jonas Hector says that he doesn’t want to stay here, we’d have to face up to it.”
“When a player like Jonas, who permanently refines himself, is in the spotlight it is just a super story. There are worse problems for a club than having to deal with a player maybe leaving the club because he’s in incredible form.”
The full-back, who scored his first goal for Germany in this week’s 4-1 victory over Italy, has become a regular in the world champion’s set-up and is likely to attract further interest in the summer with his performances at the European Championships.
With Cologne ninth in the table, they’re unlikely to secure a spot in European competition and so a move to a bigger club would be appealing to the 25-year-old.
