Liverpool receive boost in pursuit of 26-year-old as club confirm deal for potential replacement

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for a few new signings this summer…

Particularly offensively, with the Reds set to return to the Champions League next season, Jurgen Klopp needs to make sure that his side can compete with some of Europe’s more deadly teams, meaning that a few big names could be needed at Anfield over the next few months.

Liverpool have clearly got a lot of top players in mind, and – at least according to the Independent – they may well have received a boost in their pursuit of one such target. The Independent are reporting that Liverpool are interested in Bayern Munich attacker Douglas Costa, and the German giant’s recent capture of Serge Gnabry could open the door to a departure for the 26-year-old, offering the Reds hope in their reported quest to sign him.

Bayern Munich recently confirmed the signing of Serge Gnabry, who rose to prominence with Arsenal, with the German outfit clearly impressed with his fine form for Werder Bremen over the last year.

Costa, meanwhile, despite impressing early on for Bayern Munich, became a bit of peripheral¬†feature last season, making just 14 starts in the Bundesliga. A quick, technical and agile player, he would clearly do well in the Premier League, and given Bayern’s signing of a supposed replacement, he could also be available this summer.

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern, then, are absolutely delighted – with many hoping that Klopp looks to get a deal done.

With Liverpool recently touted with having made an improved bid for Mo Salah, it will be interesting to see how the Reds look to improve their attack this summer.
