The Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are delighted to see him back…
It has been a long road to recovery for Liverpool ace Joe Gomez.
The young defender was a surprise package last season, having signed from Charlton Athletic in the summer of 2015.
He quickly established himself in the heart of the Liverpool defence, but a cruel knee injury has ruled him out since October 2015 – just as he was getting his Liverpool career started.
The Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have been clamouring for his return, and it would appear that they have finally received a boost in that regard.
As per the Liverpool Echo, Gomez returned to training yesterday, much to the joy of his teammates – who gave him a standing ovation.
His return marks almost a year since his injury, with Liverpool keen to take his return slowly as to avoid another setback.
Liverpool have missed him since his injury, with Alberto Moreno taking over in his place – and faltering along the way. Moreno has since been dropped from the side and replaced by James Milner; but the Liverpool fans in the Tavern are still longing for Gomez to take his place back in the side.
Our landlord is expecting huge things from Gomez this season.
At just 19, he is still young enough to come back strong from his injury; and he could find himself back in the Liverpool team before he knows it.
He made 5 appearances for the Reds last season, and will be looking to improve on that between now and the end of the season.
