Liverpool fans here in the Tavern are hoping that the Reds’ injury curse can be lifted, as Nathaniel Clyne is still waiting for clearance on a return to Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Having made the move to Anfield from supposed ‘feeder club’ Southampton back in 2015, the Englishman has managed to enjoy 70 appearances for the Reds in what is now his third season with the club. Although, after sustaining a back injury in their pre-season friendly against Tranmere Rovers last year, the Reds’ injury plague had claimed its another victim as he continues to find a way back after a setback halted any progress.
However, things appear to have taken a turn for the better, as fitness expert Ben Dinnery has revealed some promising news for Liverpool fans on Twitter.
Nathaniel Clyne continues to make good progress in his recovery from the back problem which has kept him sidelined for the entire campaign. "He is doing well but still a little way to go until he is back in completely normal training. He is doing well, really good.” #LFC

It’s great news for Jurgen Klopp and his side after missing the quality of the right-back in defensive areas this season, in what’s proven to be one of the frailties in this current Liverpool side.
The type of news that can really help towards achieving their targets, as the return of Clyne will be sure to increase the chance of them achieving their domestic and European aspirations.
After seeing star men; Sadio Mane, Jordan Henderson and Virgil Van Dijk all suffer with injury, it will provide a real psychological boost knowing that one of their defensive guardians is returning to the fold.
Landlord’s verdict
Indeed, with the Champions League knockout round set to start next month, news of Nathaniel Clyne’s good strides in recovery could be set to see him arrive back at Anfield in time for these fixtures.
Although, with the player not having played in any competitive football matches since his injury back in July, the right-back could be a long way off reaching full match fitness with lots of progress still to be had.
