Liverpool fans are looking up with interest here in the Football Transfer Tavern as the Daily Mirror claim that the club are considering a bid for Swansea City’s Ashley Williams.
Much has been made of the defensive situation at the club and given that at least one centre half will be required this summer after Jamie Carragher’s retirement, it is no wonder the club are casting their eyes around.
Liverpool are not the only club who are considering a move for the Swans skipper however and Arsenal have also long been linked with the 27-year-old. Williams himself is a self confessed Liverpool fan and feel that this may give them the edge in the battle for the player despite a £9 million bid from Arsenal already being on the table.
Not only are Liverpool looking for defenders but they are also considering moving for a new goalkeeper after Pepe Reina made it clear he is considering his future at the club and as we all know the future of Luis Suarez remains under constant speculation. Obviously should the forward leave, the club will not only have a huge amount of money to spend but a massive hole to fill.
Do Liverpool possess the upper hand in the race to land Williams? Rate this rumour below.
