The 29-year-old has only played 135 minutes of Premier League football since his £20m from Bayern Munich in the summer, following a knee injury that he suffered during his side’s 2-2 draw to Everton in October.
It has been a turbulent journey for the Spain international, and his largely anticipated return could be only a matter of days away after returning to full first-team training.
Replying to a fan during The Athletic’s Q&A session, well-respected journalist James Pearce had his say as to when Thiago will make his comeback for Liverpool.

Transfer Tavern Verdict
This is huge for Liverpool and a massive boost for the supporters. After losing both Naby Keita and Joel Matip before and during their 1-1 draw against West Brom, it will counteract any negative team news over the past 24 hours.
That being said, it is a matter of keeping Thiago fit until the end of the season. Having seen little action so far, the Kop faithful will be keen to see if he can replicate his brilliance in Bavaria, having been described as “exceptional” by Manchester City manager and former Bayern boss Pep Guardiola.
Time will tell whether Liverpool and Klopp can do just that.
