The Daily Mail have a shocking claim for us here in the Football Transfer Tavern this evening.
They claim that Liverpool are still hoping they are in with a chance of landing Mohamed Salah, despite the player closing in on a move to Chelsea
As one of our punters notes, we had thought that Salah was set to join Liverpool, with claims he was even house hunting on Merseyside – yet Chelsea once again swooped in at the last minute and hijacked the deal.
Over a pint, our landlord notes that we should have been well aware exactly how Chelsea operate, after the Willian deal was snatched from under the noses of Tottenham Hotspur, but we did not expect the Blues to move so fast.
Chelsea are looking for a replacement for Juan Mata, who is of course on his way to Manchester United, and saw Salah as the perfect solution.
Salah himself has destroyed Chelsea on more than one occasion and it is no wonder Mourinho moved for him if you listen to our regulars.
Brendan Rodgers however noted that no deal had actually gone through, and told talkSPORT: “I’m not sure whether that deal is definitely done yet or not.
“The young guy is a good player. We have tracked him for a number of months, the club has been watching him and I have been to watch him.”
Will Chelsea manage to get this deal over the line or is Rodgers losing his marbles? Let us know your thoughts below.
