Liverpool reportedly keen on 28-goal forward, talks could take place soon

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for Jurgen Klopp to sign a top forward this summer…

The Reds impressed during the 2016/17 season, with Jurgen Klopp overseeing a remarkable return to the Champions League for the club.

Seemingly not keen on stopping there, though, it appears as though the German is keen on improving his side even more this summer. According to the Express, Liverpool are keen on French forward Alexandre Lacazette, and the two parties could look to hold discussions over a move at some point next week.

Unsurprisingly, this has generated quite the response from the fans in the Transfer Tavern, with Lacazette one of Europe’s most deadly forwards. He picked up a remarkable 28 league goals last season, seemingly firing his way into the minds of some of Europe’s top sides.

From Liverpool’s perspective, the signing of a new forward is important this summer, with the Reds still yet to really replace Luis Suarez following his sale to Barcelona several years ago. Daniel Sturridge is rarely fit enough to start regularly, and so Roberto Firmino – naturally an attacking midfielder – has been utilised frequently by Klopp this season. Neither are likely to become mainstays as a number 9 going forward, and so Lacazette would certainly fill an important squad gap.

Our landlord thinks that he would be an excellent signing.
