The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for their side’s defensive fortunes to improve…
It has been a tough season so far for Liverpool, particularly at the back. Jurgen Klopp has been unable to get the best out of a talented crop of players, with the likes of Dejan Lovren and even Joel Matip struggling under the intense pressure of the Premier League. It’s clear that something needs to be done, and with a move for Virgil van Dijk not coming to fruition over the summer, it appears as though the Reds are now looking elsewhere.
According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool are ‘keeping tabs’ on Fortuna Sittard defender Perr Schuurs, who has made a very good start to the season. Captaining his side despite being just 17-years-old, Schuurs is a player with natural talent and incredible potential, and it seems as though Liverpool want to capitalise on that. Significantly, the Daily Mail notes that he has already trained with the club in the past, whilst TalkSport claim that the session took place at Liverpool’s Melwood training ground.
Bringing him to the training ground would certainly suggest that Liverpool are very keen, and his fine performances this season are only going to have made him more fans at Anfield.
He has made 7 appearances this season, and he has scored 3 goals in the process.
Schuurs is clearly a top player, and the fact that he is his club’s captain despite only being 17-years-old says a lot about his future in the game. He’s clearly very mature and that bodes well when combined with his potential. A bright future is certainly on the cards, and Liverpool would be wise to continue keeping tabs on him.
