Liverpool have had a quiet summer, and the Reds in the Transfer Tavern are concerned about the future of Philippe Coutinho…
The Brazilian has been touted with an exit, and that would leave Jurgen Klopp in a real spot of bother. After all, the Brazilian has been crucial for the Reds since he moved to the club.
Clearly, though, an exit is a possibility, and so Jurgen Klopp must prepare in case it happens. It appears as though he is doing just that, with Tutto Mercato Web reporting that the Reds are tracking attacker Inaki Williams as a potential replacement for Coutinho this summer.
Williams currently plays as an attacker for Athletic Bilbao in La Liga, where he has impressed in recent years. He is rated at £22.5m by Transfer Markt, which is a testament to his quality in the final third.
He bagged 5 goals and 6 assists last season, proving his quality, and at 23-years-old, his best years are certainly still ahead of him.
Any move, though, is far easier said than done.
It would be a massive disappointment if Liverpool were to sell Coutinho, but Klopp cannot risk losing him without a replacement.
Williams would be a decent option, though it must be noted that he is far more comfortable on the flanks than he is in the middle, which may suggest that he isn’t a like-for-like replacement for Coutinho.
Even so, his quality is evident, and so he would provide what Klopp is looking for in terms of goals and assists.
