One man, a certain Brendan Rodgers to be exact, has identified a reason why the Reds failed to achieve their ambitions last season- sensational telling The Telegraph it was all Daniel Sturridge’s fault.
The blame, according to Rodgers, doesn’t lie on Sturridge himself but instead is down to the injuries the England international has sustained- which have only seen him make a recent recovery, sparking the Reds into life with a brace at the weekend against Aston Villa.
Had Sturridge been available for selection throughout last season, Rodgers believes that Liverpool would have sealed a place in the Premier League’s top-four AND they would have lifted a trophy.
Liverpool saw rivals Manchester United beat them to fourth spot in the league, which comes with the riches of Champions League football, whilst the Reds lost in the FA Cup semi-final to Villa at Wembley.
Whilst we agree the Reds would have been a better side with Sturridge available, we’re unsure as to whether one man can single-handedly perform a miracle.
