Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are rubbing their hands in excitement, after they read reports alongside their pints that state the Reds have joined the hunt for one of Europe’s most exciting talents.
SB Nation state Liverpool are the latest club to express an interest in Benfica’s phenomenal 18-year-old talent Renato Sanches, with Jurgen Klopp’s side sending scouts to watch the Portuguese prospect in action.
Sanches’ performances this season have attracted a wealth of interest in his services, including that of Liverpool’s fierce rivals Manchester United, and there’s likely to be a massive fight for his signature when the summer window reopens.
Any deal for the highly-rated teenager will not come cheap though as Benfica hold a massive £63.2m release clause in the player’s contract. Whilst it’s likely the Portuguese side will negotiate a deal for less than that figure, it means the bidding war will start very high.
Liverpool will be considered underdogs in the chase as the Reds are unable to offer Champions League football, whilst it’s likely they’d have to smash their transfer record of £35m to secure the Portuguese talent.
Our landlord believes he won’t come to England at all and feels Renato Sanches will move across the Portuguese border to a La Liga side.
Liverpool fans, is Renato Sanches the real deal that you need? Let us know in the comments below!
