Liverpool saw late £22.7m striker bid rejected on Deadline Day

Icardi.jpgLiverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have expressed to our bar staff today that they’re immensely disappointing with their activity in the January window but it’s been revealed it could have been a lot different.

Football Italia, citing Corriere della Serastate that Inter Milan rejected an offer of €30m (£22.7m) from Liverpool on Deadline Day, despite the Argentine forward having a rocky relationship with manager Roberto Mancini.

Liverpool were understandably keen to bolster their forward options with Christian Benteke struggling to make a positive impact at Anfield and Daniel Sturridge continuing to have vast injury problems but the offer was turned down by the Italian giants, due to the lack of time they had to find a suitable replacement.

The Reds could revive their interest in the summer though as it’s clear Icardi will be forced out of the club due to his poor relationship with Mancini, which was handed further problems at the weekend as he was dropped for the Milan derby and missed a penalty in the defeat after coming on as a substitute.

Our landlord believes Icardi would be a stellar acquisition for Klopp’s side but believes the South American starlet will demand Champions League football from his next club.

Liverpool fans, could Icardi’s arrival potentially handed you a top-four finish? Let us know in the comments below!
