Liverpool scout Paris Saint-Germain striker ahead of January swoop

psgLiverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern were excited to hear that their club has been scouting a Paris Saint-Germain striker ahead of a January switch.

Unfortunately for them, whilst they dreamt of Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Edinson Cavani at Anfield, The Daily Star says youngster Odsonne Edouard was the man commanding the Reds attention.

The 17-year-old forward was watched by Liverpool scouts in PSG’s UEFA Youth League clash against Malmo, whilst three scouts have been sent to the U17 World Cup in Chile; where the youngster is representing France.

Talks regarding a new contract between the teenager and the French champions have broken down, leading Laurent Blanc’s side to become concerned that they could lose the highly-rated player on a free transfer.

If they are to command a fee for Edouard’s services then the player must leave in January and Liverpool could be keen, as new boss Jurgen Klopp saw his forward options deplete during his first week on Merseyside.

The option of potential first-team football with Liverpool may appeal to the player, who is yet to make his senior debut for PSG as he has Ibrahimovic, Cavani, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Jean-Kevin Augustin ahead of him in the pecking order.
