We expected the Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern to be disappointed by the news of a reported failure in the transfer market but instead they haven’t battered an eyelid, continuing with their game of dominoes by the fire as if nothing has happened.
With Liverpool struggling in front of goal, Jurgen Klopp is said to be on the look out for a new striker, something our punters desperately want, but it appears this reported signing is not who they wanted to see at Anfield.
Fortunately for those fans then, The Daily Mirror state that Southampton have rejected an £8m bid from Liverpool for forward Shane Long- who’s future has been thrown into further doubt following the Saints capture of Charlie Austin.
However, Southampton want to keep 8-goal Long at the club despite the recent arrival of Austin- and instead it’s Graziano Pelle that’s likely to be the forward that’s offloaded.
The Saints fans in the bar are relieved to see the bid rejected, mainly because they don’t want to sell another player to Liverpool- having seen five of their stars move to Anfield in the past few seasons.
Our landlord believes Southampton were daft to reject £8m for Long, as he states that money could have been invested into better players.
