Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are debating whether their club has made the right call, amidst speculation a popular figure could be on his way out.
The Telegraph states Jurgen Klopp sees Welsh international Joe Allen as surplus to requirements at Anfield and will therefore look to offload the 26-year-old from Merseyside this summer.
Allen has shone with Wales on international duty, with the day after their 3-0 win over Russia at the European Championships being dubbed ‘Joe Allen appreciation day’ on social media, but, despite that, his future with the Reds is uncertain.
The former Swansea City man has 12 months to run on his contract and a new deal is unlikely to be forthcoming from the Europa League finalists, who will instead look to cash-in for a fee of around £10m.
Allen’s former Welsh employers are keen to bring him back to the Liberty Stadium but our landlord believes interest will rise, with the player a contender to feature in the European Championship team of the tournament.
