Liverpool set to do battle with Juventus for 23-year-old World Cup winner

Add a world class central midfielderThe Liverpool supporting punters here in the Transfer Tavern are relatively pleased with reaching the Capital One Cup Final but do concede that boss Jurgen Klopp has a big job in terms of recruitment during the summer months.

Our landlord has spotted an article in today’s Mirror that suggests the German boss could be about to enter the market for one of the world’s finest players.

World Cup winner and Bayern Munich star Mario Gotze is firmly on Klopp’s radar and the two could link up again in the summer, having worked together previously at Borussia Dortmund.

It would represent a coup for Liverpool who are unlikely to be playing in the Champions League next season but the Reds are still hopeful that the lure of working with Klopp, will attract some top talent.

One Reds fan is sat reading the Saturday papers and picking out his accumulator. He thinks Liverpool would do incredibly well to sign Gotze, given the likelihood that they won’t be featuring in the Champions League next season, but does trust Klopp when it comes to signing players.

Liverpool fans… How big of a statement would the signing of Gotze be? Can the Reds lure the German to Anfield?
