It’s been an awful week for Liverpool fans inside the Football Transfer Tavern following back to back defeats at home and abroad, but Mike Dawes of the Daily Mail has some transfer news that may raise a smile or two.
The club are reportedly set to sign Argentine playmaker Lucas Biglia from Belgian club Anderlecht in the summer, for a bargain figure of £4.5million.
The Belgian champions are ready to let the 27-year-old go for around half his value, after falling out of favour at the Brussels-based club.
A host of clubs have expressed their interest, and a January move was expected but never materialised, despite Biglia attempting to force one through by returning home to Argentina.
Anderlecht feel his head has been turned, and are unwilling to keep an unhappy player.
Liverpool and Southampton are the Premier League clubs who have been credited with an interest, whilst Real Madrid, Napoli and Fiorentina are also monitoring the players situation.
Anderlecht’s managing director Herman van Holsbeck said: ‘If we get 5.5m euros for Biglia during the next transfer window, we will be happy.’
Biglia – who has been capped seven times by Argentina – was suspended by the club earlier in the season after going AWOL.
