After a dismal start to the season which has seen Liverpool slump to 13th with just two wins on the board so far, it is understandable that we haven’t heard much talk from the Reds fans here in the Transfer Tavern in recent weeks.
However, they are piped up a bit today as rumours circulate that Liverpool are set to go head to head with Arsenal in a January battle for William Carvalho, according to the Mirror.
Rumour has it that the Premier League pair are both eyeing bids for the Portuguese midfielder, who currently plies his trade for Sporting Lisbon in Portugal. He has made 75 appearance for the Portuguese club, scoring five goals.
Brendan Rodgers is apparently keen to bulk up his midfield after their indifferent start to the season, and sees the 6ft 1 defensive midfielder as the player to help turn their fortunes around.
His power would certainly help to stiffen them up and with the return of Daniel Sturridge, hopefully they can score an increasing amount of goals as the striker hits form.
