Liverpool set to make £1.6m profit on Reds departee

Option 3 - Kelly, Toure, Skrtel, JohnsonLiverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern know they missed a guilt edged chance to win the Premier League last season.

But their defensive frailties cost them on more than one occasion and it looks like one of the main perpetrators could be on his way out of the club.

According to Metro, Reds defender Kolo Toure is close to a switch to Turkish club Trabzonspor.

Toure, 32, made 20 Premier League appearances for Brendan Rodgers’ side last season after arriving from Premier League rivals Manchester City.

But his time on Merseyside looks to be over following just one season after the club accepted a bid worth about £1.6 million.

The Ivory Coast international will finalise his move next week when he meets up with Vahid Halilhodzic – manager of the Super Lig club.

Liverpool already have a ready-made defender in their ranks after they completed the signing of Southampton defender Dejan Lovren in recent weeks.

The Croatian international swapped the south coast for Merseyside earlier this summer for a fee that could reach £20 million, depending on appearances and other add-ons.
