There is seriously bad news for Liverpool fans here at the Football Transfer Tavern as it is claimed that the Reds are set to lose out in the fight for Ajax’s Christian Eriksen according to the Daily Mail.
The club are set to lose out on the midfielder after they not only waited too long to move for him but also saw Borussia Dortmund edge ahead in the race for the young Danish star. It was only last week here in the tavern that we were discussing the plea from Eriksen to sign him up before he is either sold to another club or even forced to sign a new deal with Ajax and now it seems that the club are set to be beaten with a £10 million offer from the German side – unless they act fast.
It had been thought that Eriksen was set on a move to the Premier League and the affection that Brendan Rodgers felt for the player was reciprocated now it seems that the 21-year-old is set for the Bundesliga despite the clear desire from Liverpool, Daniel Ager in particular, to land the midfielder. His international team-mate claimed: “We want to play attacking football with the ball on the ground and that is exactly what Christian Eriksen is all about
“That is the kind of player we need. It all depends on which team he plays for.
“If he plays for a team who want to keep the ball on the ground, then the answer is yes – due to his passing, his runs and his hard work.”
Have Liverpool missed out and is Eriksen indeed Mario Gotze’s replacement at Dortmund? Let us know your thoughts below.
