Liverpool set to offer promising defender new deal

Jon Flanagan, Martin Skrtel, Kolo Toure, Alberto MorenoLiverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are relatively happy after hearing the news from the Daily Star, that the Reds are set to offer full-back Jon Flanagan a new deal at the club.

The 22-year-old defender has failed to appear for the Merseyside club this campaign, as a result of a knee injury he suffered.

The Liverpudlian made his breakthrough season last season in a year which saw Brendan Rodgers’ side go close to winning the Premier League title.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Brendan Rodgers said:

“Hopefully Flanno’s contract will be sorted out,”

“He is working his way back to fitness and when that happens I am sure the contract will get sorted out.

“He is a big part of the future here. He did remarkably well last year and showed he is player who can play for many years at this level.”

The young defender has only over plied his trade at the Reds, and he looks set to extend his stay at the club.

Liverpool fans inside the Transfer Tavern over by the pool table are pretty happy about the news, with many of them feeling Flanagan is a long-term solution to the full-back position.

Brendan Rodgers’ side sit in fifth place in the Premier League table, having accumulated 54 points from 29 league games this season.
