Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are feeling quietly confident after the Express revealed the Reds still have a chance of beating Manchester United to PSV Eindhoven star Memphis Depay.
Depay, 21, has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford and the Dutch club are reluctant to lose their main man, after he helped them towards the Eredivisie title.
He has been at the club since he was 12 and punters in the Tavern get the impression he will only leave his boyhood club for one of the two Premier League giants.
The word from the landlord in the Tavern has been that Depay is destined to join his former coach Louis van Gaal at Manchester United.
But now Brendan Rodgers has voiced an interest and he is looking for more attacking flair to join Raheem Sterling and Philippe Coutinho.
Depay is set to cost either club £25 million and the Reds are aware they in direct competition with United and have been playing down their interest.
