Liverpool fans are moving away from the pool table and towards the bar after our landlord revealed the latest scoop we have just read in the Daily Mail here in the Football Transfer Tavern.
The Reds are apparently set to make a £12 million bid for the player dubbed the ‘Egyptian Messi’ – FC Basel’s Mohamed Salah.
As our Chelsea fans roll their eyes for obvious reasons, we begin to delve deeper into the rumour, which claims that Reds manager Brendan Rodgers has been on a personal scouting mission to watch the starlet play.
Rodgers has been so convinced by the attacker that he is prepared to make a £12 million bid to bring him to Anfield.
Salah is of course well known to most of our punters in the tavern after his Champions League exploits this season in the group stages, with the player scoring both home and away against eventual group winners Chelsea, and being the star man in both games.
Basel, as one of our punters reminds us, did the double over the Blues, and could well have left Jose Mourinho’s men in a tricky situation had it not been for their other results.
Rodgers meanwhile is looking for some extra sparkle to add to his side, who already have the prolific Luis Suarez and to aid the SAS, he wants to add Salah to his ranks.
Our landlord is not wrong when he remarks that the signing of Salah would be a coup indeed for the club from Merseyside.
Liverpool fans. How keen are you on adding Mohamed Salah to your ranks? Let us know your thoughts below.
