Liverpool fans could be about to rejoice here in the Transfer Tavern after The Daily Mirror reported that Christian Benteke could be on his way out of the club.
The landlord here in the Transfer Tavern found the news when he was flicking through his daily papers this morning and it confirms that Roma could be a possible destination, with young talent Leandro Paredes coming the other way as part of the deal.
The 21-year-old is currently on loan with Empoli but Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has been a long-term admirer of the attacking midfielder, with a summer bid looking more and more likely.
Benteke meanwhile is massively out of favour with the Premier League outfit and although Liverpool will make a massive loss on the £32.5 million which they paid for the Belgian, a move away from the club looks wise for all parties.
One Liverpool fan is sat in the beer garden enjoying a pint of cider in the sun and the thinks the deal is a decent one for the Reds, conceding that Benteke just isn’t the right of striker to fit in with Klopp’s philosophy of high pressing, attacking football.
Liverpool fans, do you feel any sympathy for Benteke? Would Parades be a decent signing for the club? Who else do the club need to offload?
