The Liverpool supporters here in the Football Transfer Tavern are relishing some new arrivals at the club this summer during what promises to be an exciting transfer window.
Some kamikaze defending from the Reds cost them a serious chance at winning the title last season and boss Jurgen Klopp will undoubtedly be looking to sign some top quality defenders over the coming months.
With a move to sign Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk now looking unlikely the Reds must exhaust other options upon their list of potential targets ahead of the new campaign.
Whilst other areas will probably be targeted too it remains a popular opinion among the supporters here in the Tavern that the Reds must first concentrate on not conceding goals at the back.
One defender who should become an instant target for the Reds is Middlesbrough man Ben Gibson who seems destined to carry on playing in the Premier League despite his current club’s relegation last season.
One real pull of Liverpool signing Gibson is his natural ability to play as the left-sided central defender and the chance to play in the Champions League would make Anfield an attractive proposition for the 24-year-old.
One Liverpool fan is sat chatting to the landlord here in the Transfer Tavern and they are discussing potential targets for the Reds when Gibson’s name comes up. The supporter believes that the England international would be a real coup for the club, stating that he would also cost a lot less than the amount that Southampton wanted for van Dijk.
Liverpool fans, would you welcome Gibson to the club? Let us know in the comments below!!!Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
