The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are excited to see their new-look side in action when the new season gets underway in August, but there's still time for Jurgen Klopp to make at least one more huge signing.

The Breakdown

Klopp acted fast to secure the signing of Fabinho at the beginning of the summer transfer window, but he has failed to add further talent to the squad since despite vicious rumours regarding a potential deal for Nabil Fekir. Although Lyon's captain hugely impressed in Ligue 1 last season there's reason to suggest that the Reds should be focussing on alternative targets.

With Sadio Mane set to travel to the African Cup of Nations in January 2019, Klopp will need to think about how he plans to replace the Senegalese star and ensure Liverpool's rhythm is not disrupted in mid-season.

And Liverpool should ideally be targeting the signing of a technically gifted and speedy wide player who can supplement the attack considering their options are relatively limited beyond their iconic front-three of Mane, Salah and Firmino.

With that in mind, Liverpool would be wise to hijack Man United's bid to sign Hirving Lozano this summer following his incredible 12 months with both PSV Eindhoven and the Mexican national team.

According to a recent report from Tuttomercato webManchester United are set to launch a bid worth 40 million euros (£35 million) for Lozano in the coming days.

After scoring a whopping 19-goals and providing 11 assists from 34 appearances during a compelling season at PSV, Lozano carried his brilliant form into Mexico's World Cup campaign in Russia in which he scored and assisted in the group stage before the Central American side were dumped out by Brazil.

With the versatility to play on both the left and right-wing and with signs that he could adapt to a number ten role in the future, it's easy to see why Mourinho is interested in signing the emerging talent, but Klopp should not allow his rival to have it all his own way in the transfer market.

Lozano is a player who fits the mould for Liverpool: he possesses electrifying pace, the desire to work tirelessly for his team and the end-product to match his exciting build up play.

After falling below the level set by Manchester City last season, Liverpool need to make a big statement of intent and add another talented player to their forward-line who can supplement their fantastic options and step into Mane's shoes when he eventually goes to the 32nd AFCON in January.

On the evidence of his meteoric rise in the past twelve months, it's fair to say Lozano fits the bill, so Klopp should make him his primary target this summer and hijack United's attempt to bring him to Old Trafford.
