Liverpool fans in the Tavern have a new name to sing about following another all-action performance from Andrew Robertson against Roma. Simply put, the former Hull man has been a revelation for the Reds since joining from Hull.
After a rocky start to his career at Anfield, Robertson has established himself as the first-choice left back over Alberto Moreno, making 20 appearances in the Premier League registering four assists.
His energetic performances have won the support of the Kop who have already adopted a song for the Scottish international.
Moreno returned to the line-up in the 2-2 draw with West Brom to give Robertson a much-needed rest, but Matt Phillips exposed the Spaniard’s defensive frailties throughout the encounter.
Many of our punters believe Moreno lacks the ability to be a part of this Liverpool squad and should be moved on when the summer window reopens. James Milner has covered at left-back in the past, but Moreno’s departure would leave Liverpool short on depth.
Should Southampton be relegated this season, Liverpool should swoop for former Chelsea defender, Ryan Bertrand. The Reds are long-term admirers of the England international who is expected to leave the club regardless of whether they survive.
Bertrand would provide some healthy competition to Robertson and allow Klopp to rotate his first-team frequently next season. He is proven in the Premier League meaning the Reds would face competition from Newcastle and Everton for his signature.
Valued at £18m by Transfermarkt, the Saints will hold out for around £25m for their star man, however, relegation to the Championship would hurt their chances of maximising their money. Could Bertrand be the next man to make the journey from St. Marys to Anfield?
If he does, he could be the smartest one yet.
Liverpool fans, would you be happy with Ryan Bertrand at Anfield next season? Let us know!
