Liverpool have had a good season under manager Jurgen Klopp, and remain firmly on course for a Champions League place come the end of the campaign.
The Reds fans who have been frequenting the Tavern this season have, in the main, been a happy enough bunch, and barring a few slip ups, performances on the whole have been pleasing.
Our landlord has been spending some time with the Liverpool fans this week though and getting involved in a few games of darts, and a lot of the chat around the dartboard has been about potential summer signings.
One position Liverpool could well look to strengthen is up front, where despite the goals of Firmino and Coutinho, and the odd good performance from Origi, in general they look short.
Our landlord though thinks that former Man City striker Edin Dzeko could be the man to solve Liverpool’s striking woes, with the Bosnian currently valued at £15.3m by website Transfermarkt.
The big international forward has been a changed man since moving to Roma and getting regular first team football, and he has at times rediscovered the form which convinced City to shell out over £25m for him a few years ago.
Dzeko is a natural number 9, something which Liverpool currently lack, and his height, presence, and finishing ability could make him the ideal foil for Roberto Firmino.
Should Jurgen Klopp choose to make a move for Dzeko, we think it could be a real worthwhile move, with the striker likely to want to prove himself in the Premier League again.
He has top level experience, and could well be the man to give Liverpool an added boost going into the 2017/18 season.
Reds fans, what do you think? Would Dzeko be a good signing? Let us know in the comments!
