Liverpool should replicate Salah transfer success and move for £25.2m-rated Louis van Gaal flop

The Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are absolutely delighted to see their side progress into the Champions League final, despite a scare in the Italian capital on Wednesday night.

Indeed, Jurgen Klopp’s men put five past their Italian opposition at Anfield, though lost 4-2 at the Stadio Olimpico, progressing on away goals.

Now, Klopp will be without many key players through injury with Liverpool extremely short on squad depth which will be one area the German will look to address in the summer. Naby Keita’s arrival is already confirmed, though, more squad players are needed.

Interestingly, in attack, Liverpool are devoid of options without the trio of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane. Dominic Solanke is yet to score a goal for the Reds with Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge farmed out on loan after struggling behind the aforementioned trident.

Klopp must look to bring in another quality wide man, capable of stepping up in the absence of Mane or Salah. One option could be Lyon winger – Memphis Depay. The Dutch international has enjoyed a stellar season in Ligue 1, netting 16 goals and notching 12 assists. The former Manchester United winger struggled to impress during his first spell in England, but Klopp could be the man to bring the best out of him.

He is valued at £25.2m according to Transfermarkt. The 24-year-old can play on either wing and is one of only nine players across Europe to reach double figures for goals and assists. Salah is a prime example of why someone deserves to be given a second chance in the Premier League.

Depay could prove to be Klopp’s next masterstroke signing.

Liverpool fans, would you like Memphis Depay at Anfield? Let us know!
