With Liverpool adding a plethora of new talent to their ranks over the last 12 months and looking like becoming real title contenders, the Reds fans will be hoping that their long wait for a maiden Premier League title will soon be over.

Manager Jurgen Klopp has done a sterling job of adding some big time players to an already talented squad, and the addition of expensive goalkeeper Alisson last week might well be the final piece of the puzzle at Anfield.

However, there are still areas open to improvement within the Liverpool squad, especially in defence, where despite the January addition of Virgil Van Dijk, there is still a selection of fans and pundits who feel the club need to invest further in their defence in order to succeed.

Despite spending big, there are players out there who might not cost a bomb, and one such player we here at the Tavern think would be a superb addition is Belgium and Celtic defender Dedryck Boyata, who is valued at a relatively measley £1.8m by Transfermarkt.

The impressive former Man City ace was a valuable member of the Belgium squad over in Russia this summer, helping his side to a third placed finish after another superb season for Celtic domestically.

Boyata is a big strong defender, and is not the slowest either for a man of his stature. His time in England with City previously never took off, and he could well be open to proving a point and making a move to Anfield.

A partnership with Van Dijk could well yield success for the Reds, and Boyata could well be a risk worth taking.

Liverpool fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
