Liverpool have been their usual inconsistent selves so far this season as they look to balance Champions League football with Premier League action.
However, coming off the back of a stunning 7-0 European success this past week, the Reds will be entering their away trip to Spurs this weekend with the wind in their sails and looking to come away from Wembley with the three points.
The punters here in the Tavern and our landlord though have been chatting this week about quite a worry they have with the Reds’ squad at the moment, and that worry sits in the form of big money summer signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The £40m signing has so far struggled, and despite getting his first goal for the club in midweek, there’s still a long way to go for him to prove he will be a valuable signing.
The England man has been less than impressive, with numerous highlights packages of the midfielder doing him little favours over the past few weeks.
It’s with these things in mind that we think Liverpool should already be looking to offload their new man in January, where they might well be able to recoup some of their money and cut their losses.
Oxlade-Chamberlain never really impressed with Arsenal, and it looks like the Gunners knew what they were doing when they got rid of the pacey midfielder. He’s a lot to prove between now and January, and if he fails to improve, he could well be out the door when the window opens.
