Liverpool are thought to have shown interest in one of Europe’s most impressive midfielders this season.
According to a report by Correio da Manha, via Sport Witness, the Premier League outfit are believed to be keen on Sporting Lisbon’s Bruno Fernandes.
And, it is understood that the Portuguese outfit are being ‘forced’ to sell their star player because of the financial problems currently surrounding them.
Fernandes has been a standout for the Lions this season, having recorded 21 goals and 11 assists in his 38 appearances across all competitions so far.
It is claimed the 24-year-old has a buyout of 100million in his current contract with Sporting, however, Liverpool are believed to be of the opinion that they can get him for less than 80m due to the club’s financial situation.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are not the only team thought to have shown some interest in the midfielder though, with AC Milan keen to bring him back to Italy, where he played for Novara, Udinese and Sampdoria in the past.
Fernandes is likely going to be an expensive addition, however, he could be available for a lot less than many would have anticipated because of Sporting’s financial troubles.
And, he would be an addition that could really suit Liverpool and Klopp, as he would certainly add the attacking element the club is desperate to have in the middle of the park.
However, whether Liverpool look to make an actual offer for him remains to be seen and if Sporting are ‘forced’ to sell him at the end of the season, there will likely be a number of clubs across Europe looking to secure his signature.
