The Guardian has Liverpool fans nodding in agreement here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they hear that the Reds’ players have been doing their level best to keep Steven Gerrard at the club.
The long serving midfielder has seen his future become increasingly uncertain in recent weeks and rumours of a rift with manager Brendan Rodgers have certainly not helped matters.
Despite this and as one of our punters notes, the Reds know that Gerrard is still one of the best around when on song and sufficiently rested, giving so much to the Liverpool cause when used correctly.
That is of course all down to Rodgers but the players have at least have been ‘begging’ Gerrard to sign a new deal to remain at Anfield.
After all, our resident Reds fans point to the example of Frank Lampard at Manchester City and given how well the former Chelsea man is doing for a title rival, it would kill Reds fans to see Gerrard performing for another Premier League outfit.
Liverpool fans. How many years does Steven Gerrard have left at the top, conceivably at Anfield? Let us know you thoughts below.
