Liverpool fans are looking very interested here in the Football Transfer Tavern at the latest claim from Metro who claim that Iago Aspas is dying to leave Anfield.
The Spaniard has not exactly impressed since his arrival from Celta Vigo last summer and after a £7 million transfer, Aspas has struggled to break into the first team under Brendan Rodgers.
After the form and partnership of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge, it has been made clear to the player that he will not be breaking into the first team on a regular basis.
That of course has left the former Celta star looking for other options, and he claimed: “I am not 20-years-old any more. I can’t go on loan and explode.
“I think the best would be to transfer to another club and that I find the best fit for myself and the club.”
As our landlord says, Aspas is 26-years-old now and we agree that for his career to progress, he needs to play week in week out.
That may not happen at Anfield, but our punters think that a couple of other Premier League sides, not to mention a couple of La Liga’s finest could be willing to revive the player’s career.
Is there quite simply no way back into the Liverpool first team for Iago Aspas now that Liverpool are set to welcome back Champions League football? Let us know your thoughts below.
