There are a fair few Liverpool fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern who are not exactly thrilled at the news coming from Metro who think that one of their forwards will only leave the club if he is ‘forced out’.
As our landlord quips over by the dartboard, that could really be any of their three struggling strikers, Mario Balotelli, Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert and in this case, it is the latter.
Both Lambert and Borini managed to score against Aston Villa at the weekend and after being asked about a potential move away from his boyhood club, Lambert noted that he is there to ‘help Liverpool in any way he can’ and will not be leaving unless he is sold against his will.
Whilst out regulars like the sentiment from the former Southampton forward, there is no getting away from the fact that Liverpool need a world class striker or two this summer and will probably have to perform a clear out to not only fund this but make space come the summer.
Liverpool fans. Is this the worst news you could have been given? How bad do you think Lambert really is compared to the likes of Diego Costa and Sergio Aguero? Let us know your thoughts below.
