Liverpool fans seem confused in the Football Transfer Tavern after hearing that one of their prized possessions has agreed personal terms with Italian giants AC Milan and could potentially leave on a free transfer.
According to Metro, AC Milan have agreed personal terms with Suso, who has entered the final year of his contract at Liverpool.
But Milan are in a sticky situation; they can either pay a cut-price bid for the Spanish midfielder and acquire his services in January or they can wait for his contract to expire next summer.
If Milan do opt to sign him next season, the earliest a contractual agreement can be made is in January.
The Serie A club have always been keen on the 20-year-old and this was clear after the Reds knocked back Milan’s attempts to bring Suso in on a season-long loan this summer.
Brendan Rodgers was intending to cash in on the Spanish Under-21 international who spent a season on loan to La Liga side Almeria last term after deeming him surplus to requirements at Anfield.
But now they face the real prospect of loosing the youngster on a free transfer in 12 months’ time and now the Merseyside club are left with no choice but to listen to any offers from Milan in January.
Suso joined the Reds aged 17, in 2010, from Cadiz and has progressed through the club’s youth system before making his first team debut in the Europa League victory against Swiss side Young Boys in 2012.
Since then, he has only made a further 19 appearances for the Merseyside club.
