Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have continued to worry about the fitness of their star striker, which could see him miss out on a seat to France for this summer’s European Championships.
The BBC has confirmed that Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge returned to training with the Three Lions today, after suffering an injury in the Europa League final defeat to Sevilla, but he has just two training sessions to prove his fitness.
Roy Hodgson will trim his squad by two names tomorrow, with Fabian Delph already withdrawing from the initial 26-man squad through injury, and there’s a high chance stat Sturridge could be one of the names dropped.
Sturridge watched on last week as teenager Marcus Rashford celebrated his England debut with the opening goal against Australia, increasing his claim to become the fourth and final striker in the Three Lions squad behind Wayne Rooney, Jamie Vardy and Harry Kane.
However, there’s still a chance for Sturridge to prove his worth but the former Chelsea and Manchester City striker’s fitness record will be a concern, as he missed 33 games for Liverpool this season.
