Liverpool star not good enough says former Reds great

balotelli.jpgMetro have our Liverpool fans looking up with huge interest here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they carry quotes from none other than Mark Lawrenson who of course knows the club rather well.

The Match of the Day pundit has blasted Mario Balotelli and claimed that not only is the Italian international forward a ‘lump’ but that Brendan Rodgers will be buying another forward come January and will need to do so should he want the club to win anything this season.

In a rather unfair tirade against Balotelli, Lawro claimed: “I already believe Rodgers is going to have to make a move for a fast, pacey striker during the January transfer window, especially if [Daniel] Sturridge is going to miss chunks of the season through injury,

“Mario Balotelli had a decent game but he is a big lump up front. He offers a different kind of threat.

“He [Balotelli] doesn’t have pace and he’s never going to score 20 goals a season.”

Whilst our punters certainly think that Balotelli might no be able to lead the line all by himself, there are some angry cries from our regulars.

They think that given his performances during his time at Manchester City, not to mention the fact that he is already off the mark for the Reds with a Champions League goal, there is far more to come from the 24-year-old yet.

Liverpool fans. Is Lawro right? Do you need another forward if you want to win anything this season? Let us know your thoughts below.
