The Daily Star has completely stunned punters in the Football Transfer Tavern today.
This is due to the paper bringing news that Liverpool have ‘offered’ Luis Suarez to Real Madrid in a desperate attempt to prevent him signing for Premier League rivals Arsenal.
This speculation has originated in Spain with both Marca, who are regarded as Real’s mouthpiece, and local radio carrying the latest rumour surrounding the Uruguayan striker.
Of course, as is well known in the bar, Arsenal made two offers for the 26-year-old striker in the summer including one of £40 million plus one pound as they unsuccessfully tried to trigger a release clause they thought was in his contract.
The Gunners are still seeking a top class striker as they look for their first trophy is over eight seasons.
But now the paper suggests that the outstanding forward has also been outlined by Real boss Carlo Ancelotti. His agent Pere Guardiola has now reportedly made a verbal agreement with Real to see the former Ajax man moving to the Bernabeu in the near future.
Suarez was eager for a move to Spain during the summer and it comes as no surprise to see speculation building about his future as his fantastic form continues in the Premier League for the Reds.
Madrid spent £86 million bringing Gareth Bale from Tottenham in the summer and could now move for Suarez in a deal over £40 million as they look to replace Karim Benzema in attack.
