Twitter and footballers never did seem to be a good combination. A platform for these limited educated young men of their mid-twenties to express themselves to the public and their fans was always going to have major downfalls.
Just take a glance at the Twitter account of Joey Barton to find the usual spiel that the footballer mouths off about although at least the QPR man has his spelling, grammar and a way with words down to a tee.
This is unlike some players on the popular social networking site who cause controversy in their tweets. The list of players caught up in a Twitter storm is getting longer.
However here in the Football Transfer Tavern we do enjoy it when a footballer rubbishes a rumour or even puts someone down for making up stuff about them.
And the viral image posted on the bar has brought out much laugher from the tavern faithful.
When the account @sturridgestats tweeted happy birthday to in-form Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge they probably shouldn’t have mentioned the 24-year-old in the tweet.
The former Manchester City and Chelsea ace happily replied to message to confirm it was in fact his birthday the next day.
So much for stats, hey!
