Liverpool fans could not be more interested to hear the latest claim coming from the Daily Star here in the Football Transfer Tavern.
This is after they claimed that one of their forwards did in fact receive an offer to leave the club – and turned it down.
Luis Suarez has been hot property for the last couple of seasons and now it seems that it was not just La Liga outfits or other Premier League sides who were keen on him.
A Serie A side also expressed an interest in the Uruguayan striker, who has been prolific this season, and Suarez has revealed that he turned the offer to move down, despite his troubles in England at the time.
The former Ajax forward spoke to Gazzetta dello Sport and claimed: “Two years ago I received an important offer from Serie A,
“I was in the eye of a storm but I decided to stay at Liverpool. Who was it? I’m not going to say.”
However, he did not offer massive assurances over his long-term future. That is something that unsettles our Reds fans slightly, with Brendan Rodgers’ star man claiming: “Never say never in the future. My immediate future is at Liverpool, but it would be an honour to join the history of South Americans who have gone to Serie A.”
Do Liverpool fans have nothing to worry about? Will Suarez be sticking around Anfield for a little while yet? Let us know your thoughts below.
