Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern may not be happy about the prospect of losing Luis Suarez, but reports of another striker set to depart Anfield from the Daily Star have brought about a better reaction.
The publication reckons Liverpool are set to allow Iago Aspas to return to Spain – just a year after completing a £7.7 million move to Merseyside from Celta Vigo.
The Spanish forward failed to make any sort of impact in his debut season at Anfield, despite a promising pre-season which saw him net four times.
However, the 26-year-old managed just 15 appearances for the Reds last season – only six of which were starts – and scored just once in the FA Cup third round win over Oldham Athletic.
Sources in Spain reckon Sevilla are keen to offer the striker a return to La Liga, whilst Aspas is also desperate to move in order to secure first team action.
Sevilla have concerns over the future of first choice striker Carlos Bacca, with the Colombian international reportedly a target for La Liga champions Atletico Madrid.
It remains to be seen whether Aspas will arrive as a replacement for Bacca, or to compliment him in the Europa League winners’ strikeforce.
