The Daily Mail has quite the story for Liverpool fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern, as they claim that one of the club’s on loan players may well have a future at Anfield after all.
Pepe Reina has been on loan at Napoli this season and from comments we heard from manager Brendan Rodgers, it had seemed that the door had closed on a return for the player.
We certainly felt that Reina could well have to either find another club or face another season on loan.
Now it has been claimed that Rodgers has not shut the door on a return, and the Spanish goalkeeper himself noted when speaking to the BBC: “Liverpool got another goalkeeper and they told me they were happy to loan me for a season.
“It was strange but I don’t regret it. There are always ups and downs – the last two-and-a-half years at Liverpool, there were different methods and perhaps I didn’t do as good as I used to under Rafa but I don’t think I was bad.”
“Is the door closed on Liverpool? No. That is what the manager says apparently but I have got two years left on my contract.”
What’s more likely? An Anfield return for Reina or the penning of a permanent deal out in Napoli? Let us know your thoughts below.
