Liverpool star set for extended Anfield stay

gerrard.jpgLiverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are soaking up the rays in the beer garden when Ben Smith from BBC Sport strolls up to announce that legendary Reds captain Steven Gerrard will sign a new two-year extension with the club.

It’s more than 14 years since Gerrard made his senior Liverpool debut and he has since become one of the greatest players to have graced Anfield and this new deal will ensure that will be remain with the club well past his 35th birthday.

Talks have been ongoing between Gerrard, manager Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre since the end of last season and now an agreement has been put in place to see the England international spend his entire career with one club.

His current deal had been set to expire at the end of the new season and that had led to speculation that the 33-year-old could finally depart Anfield with a possible foreign adventure in mind. Now those rumours have been put to bed as Gerrard confirms his loyalty to the Reds with a deal set to be announced within 48 hours.
