However, things may not be so rosy for Liverpool fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern according to Metro.
The publication makes the claim that despite penning a new deal with the club, interest has not ended in Luis Suarez.
The star forward has been the player of the season so far and Reds fans were thrilled when he put pen to paper on a new deal.
However, it may well be the case that should Liverpool fail to get into the top four, that the player would still consider moving on.
As our landlord notes, the fact that the club are flying high in the league is a massive advantage and given they are challenging for the title, things are looking good.
Even if Suarez’s head did get turned by the likes of Real Madrid or Barcelona, his new deal would most likely have a release clause far more than the previous £40 million, meaning that at least Liverpool would have some serious cash to get a replacement.
Both La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona are in serious need of an out and out forward, and see Suarez as the answer.
