Liverpool star to become team-mate of Spanish legend next year?

Gerrard, Henderson, Sterling, Markovic Metro have Liverpool fans feeling gutted here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they note that the Reds could well lose skipper Steven Gerrard next summer and to North America to boot!

Former Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry is on the board at New York Cosmos and it seems that the NASL side are keen to add 34-year-old Gerrard to their books should the midfielder fail to agree another deal at the club where he has spent his entire career.

As our regulars note over a pint, there are a growing number of big name players heading stateside when their careers in the Premier League draw to a close.

The Cosmos – who currently perform outside the MLS – recently tied up a deal to see Real Madrid’s legend Raul join the club.

However, our punters move away from their game of darts to caution that Brendan Rodgers simply cannot allow a repeat of the Frank Lampard situation and see Gerrard potentially rock up at another top flight English club on loan for the first half of next season!

We think that Gerrard should end his career at Liverpool given he has become a legend there and moving potentially could well jeopardise his status as their greatest ever player.

Liverpool fans. Can you see Gerrard being interested in a switch to the New York Cosmos or will he still end his career on Merseyside? Let us know your thoughts below.
