Metro have a claim that our punters are keen to hear in the Football Transfer Tavern.
The publication have claimed that Liverpool are leading the race to sign Southampton’s Adam Lallana.
As one of our punters notes, that is the one bit of good news for Liverpool today after they saw their side lose at home to Chelsea and slip up in what seemed their title to lose.
Lallana is of course one of the most coveted players around at the minute and as our punters claim, Southampton will certainly have to fight off a few clubs that will come circling for his services this summer.
A good World Cup may see his price tag rise even further, and our landlord moves over to the bar to make the point that Liverpool are willing to offer Lallana £50,000 per week while also offering Champions League football – something that Manchester United are unable to offer for at least a season.
There is also the managerial uncertainty facing the club which has allowed the likes of Liverpool to slip in and get ahead when it comes to transfer targets.
Liverpool fans. Would you quite simply love to see Lallana arriving at Anfield this summer? Is this the calibre of player that the Reds should be signing now? Let us know your thoughts below.
