It’s last orders in the Football Transfer Tavern and as the bell chimes I can hear claims from The Express journalist Ben Jefferson about a possible transfer target for Liverpool.
Jefferson suggests that Brendan Rodgers’ side are the latest club to join the pursuit for Porto enforcer Fernando.
Manchester United and Everton have both been linked with the Brazilian midfielder and it seems that the player could be on his way out of Portugal.
The speculation comes after it is revealed that Reds scouts were watching the 26-year-old during his team’s defeat to rivals Benfica at the weekend with his contract set to expire in the summer.
However it is thought that the Anfield club will have move swiftly with Fernando’s representative , Antonio Araujo, admitting that despite the rumour his client is on the verge of agreeing a deal with his current club.
He said: “We’ve come to an agreement with Porto. The only thing that is missing are the details. Once they’re agreed we’ll sign.”
Of course it remains possible that this statement is a last ditch attempt to encourage suitors to move for his client and here in the tavern we’re often cynical about agent’s interests.
Do you think the Reds stand any chance in landing the midfielder? Let us know your thoughts below.
