The Football Transfer Tavern was busy last night as punters enjoyed the selection of Europa League quarter finals action on offer.
One of the games that was featured on the tavern’s screens was Benfica’s home tie against AZ Alkmaar and by the sounds of it we weren’t the only ones closely watching their 2-0 victory.
Today’s copy of Metro indicates that Liverpool scouts were in attendance to keep an eye on 20-year-old forward Lazar Markovic last night.
Unfortunately the scouting mission was wasted. The impressive Serbian attacker was only given a late cameo role by Jorge Jesus as he was introduced with 20 minutes to spare.
However there were still glimpses of his talents and with seven goals in total this season, it is little wonder that his services are highly sought-after.
Manchester United and Chelsea have both been linked with the youngster who could depart the Portuguese champions at the end of the campaign.
Brendan Rodgers is on the lookout for some top-class additions in the summer and Markovic would fit the bill at Anfield.
Can you see the Serbian heading to the Premier League in the near future? Let us know your thoughts below.
